About me
Cynthia Simmons-Taylor is a seasoned professional with a diverse range of professional
titles and roles throughout her career. Her notable positions include Legal Administrator,
Utility Customer Service Manager, Director of South Bend 311 Customer Service Call
Center, and Human Rights Commission Housing Investigator. She has also served as
the Interim Executive Director of the South Bend Human Rights Commission and
carries the title of Officer of Diversity & Inclusion. Additionally, she is a Certified Change
Agent and an active Real Estate Broker.
Cynthia holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Management from Bethel
College. With an impressive 26 years dedicated to public service, she has been a
dedicated employee of the City of South Bend. In 2013, Cynthia played a pivotal role in
the staffing and implementation of South Bend's first 311 Call Center, which has since
become a valuable resource for the community.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Cynthia is a loving wife, mother, and
grandmother who holds her family in high regard. Her true passion lies in assisting
others in their career development. She is renowned for her exceptional team-building
skills, which have resulted in remarkable staff retention at the Call Center, where even
after a decade, 80% of its original staff members continue to contribute to its success.
In her leisure time, Cynthia enjoys a variety of hobbies, including traveling, gardening,
reading, singing, and playing the piano. She is also involved in the real estate business,
attending plays and musicals, and actively participating in her grandchildren's sports
activities. Cynthia's favorite things are flowers and butterflies, reflecting her appreciation
for the beauty in life's smallest details.
