About me
Drake Shrader is a South Bend native who has dedicated his career to supporting young people through youth development and the performing arts. His theatre journey began in high school, leading him to teach theatre and later co-found United Youth Theatre (UYT)—a nonprofit that helps kids gain confidence, foster creativity, and develop trust and respect through the arts.
At UYT, Drake has directed numerous productions, working with hundreds of youth across the Michiana area. His philosophy is simple: “I’m not here to send you to Broadway—I’m here to help you grow as leaders and develop skills for life.” He believes theatre builds problem-solving, teamwork, communication, confidence, and leadership skills that extend beyond the stage.
As Executive Director, he leads the organization in fundraising, strategic planning, and program development while continuing to work directly with young performers. Drake holds a bachelor’s in Political Science from Indiana University and a Master’s in Nonprofit Administration from Notre Dame, with a deep commitment to empowering youth through the arts.
At the core of Drake’s work—whether in theatre, education, or community development—is a commitment to helping young people thrive. He is passionate about creating opportunities for kids to grow, discover their strengths, and develop the confidence to take on the world—both on and off the stage.
